To The Earth (Volume IV, Estival)

1.
Show me your miles and I'll take your advice Try to shake my head from the roll of the dice The circles that we walk in expect us after time, so you got behind, I don't mind waiting Oh no, I feel we've been here before Oh no, I told you a hundred times I don't need what you have Giving all my time to the man but I can't quit Every day I get so close I can taste it Chasing down a dream ain't so hard till you try it, when everyone's selling what you ain't buying Oh no, I feel like we've been here before Oh no, I told you a million times I don't need what you have
2.
In this chase we are forever bound In this chase we are forever bound Like the fox the hunter and the hound In this chase we are forever bound When you whisper you hush the breeze When you whisper you hush the breeze Still looking for that mystery When you whisper you hush the breeze The sun shines in the morning when she comes Come mother Milkweed spread your seed Come mother Milkweed spread your seed Bringing back all the kings and queens Come mother Milkweed spread your seed
3.
Or Just Be 04:32
Night slips away in the morning mist Pale light in the east In this new day rising will you be just? Or Just be... We're all just racing towards the sun Chasing our prey until we're done We're all just praying to the son Chasing out words till they become Our machines will cleanse your blood of life And drain it away No room for god or fairytales, not these days We're all just racing 'round the sun Chasing our prey until we're done We're all just praying to the son Chasing our words till they become Always running out of time these days But never in As below as above as above as below Again begin We're all just racing round the sun Chasing our prey until we come We're all just praying to the son Chasing our words till they become
4.
You lie awake alone at night listening to the water rise Dream your ship is coming in You know they all rise with the tide But she keeps calling you back Calling you back to her Sweet familiar whispers from the other side keep calling you back To your longest Day The Mother drank the flood to save her children Now they've all grown strong But promises were made next time we're all gonna burn Come down from the mountain, blow across the moors Tell me you're the rising sun and I'm yours And I'll beg you to believe in the will of the mystery Hang it from your heart plant it in your dreams Just come on back to your longest Day

To The Earth is James Keyes' 4th album and unlike the previous three, will be digital only and released exclusively on Bandcamp.

"Since we're not bound by physical releases or time anymore I thought it would be fun to create a living album" says Keyes. To The Earth will be released in four parts, four songs each on solstices and equinoxes over the course of one year.

September 22, 2016 - Volume 1, Autumnal
December 21, 2016 - Volume 2, Hibernal
March 20, 2017 - Volume 3, Vernal
June 21, 2017 - Volume 4, Estival

Like the title indicates, To The Earth finds Keyes getting back to his roots. Literally. Recorded in his barn theses new songs have a rustic dream-like quality to them and are all connected to the seasons, the earth and the world around him. Having moved from the city to the country after his last release, 2013's The Middle, this new batch of songs is inspired by the cycles of life found in nature. Time, life, death and rebirth are all reoccurring themes in the lyrics.

Curious yet?
